Would you like to have another adult in your life who can be your
“go-to” person – someone you can trust and depend on? We can carefully match you with a volunteer who believes you deserve special one-on-one support and friendship as you juggle parenthood and launching your own life. Your personal mentor can help you develop educational and employment goals, connect you with community services, help you learn life skills, and have some fun with you.
PARENT EDUCATION AND LIFE SKILL CLASSES
Parent education classes are offered on topics such as childbirth preparation and education, breastfeeding, child development, healthy relationships, financial literacy and family nutrition. Some classes meet once and some for several weeks.
We connect participants to community agencies and programs that help address their distinct needs. Services include maternal, infant and child health, housing, nutrition, employment readiness, college prep, early childhood education, access to birth control.
A Baby Pantry at the Generations Ahead office at Traverse City High School offers new and gently used items such as baby and toddler clothing, maternity clothes, diapers, jackets and baby linens. All items
are available for free to clients.
Regular play groups are offered for your child to enjoy with you at various locations around the community.
